The UM received 35 international students in the first semester of 2023
Twenty-nine university students from Colombia, Chile, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Italy, and The Netherlands came to Uruguay for their academic exchange at the Universidad de Montevideo during the first semester of 2023. In addition, six students who arrived in July 2022 have decided to extend their stay and remain at UM for another semester.
On March 3-4, these students participated in Orientation and Integration Day workshops organized by the UM Global Office and the UM Student Department. On said occasion, Professor Nicolás Etcheverry gave a welcoming speech to the newcomers, suggesting they take advantage of this opportunity to represent not only their country but also the University where they come from, and wished them success in their time in Uruguay.
Next, the University Student Department members explained the different extracurricular activities available for the students, such as volunteer work, various sports, and chaplaincy. At the end of the event, everybody shared lunch and visited UM's campus.
The UM has more than 150 inter-university agreements with universities from 45 different countries; the students come from some. See all the agreements here.
